Social Events & Activities

The Organising Committee are happy to present the social activities for the R&D Topics Conference to be held between the 2nd - 5th December 2018.

Please note that some details for the social events may be subject to minor changes. Any changes made will be announced at the registrations info desk.

Sunday 2nd December:

Arrival & Pre-Mixer

Venue: UC Lodge, University of Canberra, Bruce, ACT

Time: 1600 - 1800 (AEST)

Cost: Free

Come and break the ice at the social pre-mixers, where you will get the chance to informally mingle with other attendees and the organising committee. This time is a great opportunity for all students to socialise with their peers and get to know your fellow academics in a comfortable setting.

Coming on an empty stomach?

No problem! Food and drinks will also be available in both the alcoholic and non-alcoholic nature. So come down, say hello, grab a drink and get to know your fellow attendees.

 

Monday 3rd December:

Social BBQ & Activities

Venue: John Knight Park, Lake Ginninderra, ACT

Time: 1700 - 1900 (AEST)

Cost: Free

Details:

After the long first day of conference, at only a 5 minute stroll away, it's time to chit-chat and enjoy our easy BBQ night with new people in the Nation's Capital. Come along to relax and socialise, we will make sure you are fully charged for the next day schedule. 

 

Tuesday 4th December:

Conference Dinner

Venue: National Press Club, Barton ACT

Time: 1900 - 2300 (AEST)

Cost: Included in registration

Details: Fine dining experience you will never forget !

Dress Code

Our Dress Code is an important tradition at the National Press Club.
To provide a pleasant atmosphere for all our guests, we require Smart Casual attire.
Please refrain from wearing athletic clothing or footwear, sporting uniforms or ripped clothing.

Gentlemen: please refrain from wearing shorts or sleeveless t-shirts.

Footwear: please refrain from wearing slippers, sandals or thongs. Gentlemen, please wear fully covered shoes.

Children: If accompanied by adults, children are welcome at the Restaurant. The dress code for children is also Smart Casual.

Safety and Security: Children dining are the responsibility of their guardian at all times. We request that children remain seated whilst cooking trolleys are in use.

 

Wednesday 5th December:

Closing function

Venue: University of Canberra, Bruce ACT

Time: 1600 - 1800 (AEST)

Cost: Free

Details: Don't hop up the plane just yet ! Stick tight with us until the very end, exchange contacts and bid our temporary goodbyes with tasting session on local Canberra produces. You wouldn't want to miss out a chance to find out how great our Canberra honey, cheese, beer and wine are !
